Perry is a Great School!
Joseph R. Perry Elementary School unites Parents, Teachers, Community, and Students to share, develop, and grow as life long learners. Perry promotes individuality, diversity, the formation of discipline, responsibility, courage, commitment, and fun. Students maintain high academic achievement and moral standards, and become critical thinkers and problem solvers enabling them to be confident and productive citizens.
Perry has Award Winning Teachers! All of our Teachers should be Teacher of the Year and two of our teachers have been honored by the Huntington Beach Educational Foundation (HBEF). Mrs. Grogan and Mrs. Ruppert are tops in their field in the Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley area. Congratulations!
Perry has many programs that are key to student development such as:
Art Program ~ Fully funded by the PTA, the Perry Art Program will feature nine Art Projects projects for the 2011 ~ 2012 school year. Each project will reflect classroom curriculum and teach important concepts of Art Education.
Computer Lab ~ Each student is able to learn basic computer skills and work with our Award Winning jiji Math Program from Mind Institute. Many studies indicate that a computer Math program combined with in class and home math work can dramatically increase students performance and understanding. Thank you to GATE instructor Mrs. Jen Yamabe for securing our jiji Math program with a grant that will last until 2012!
Performing Arts ~ Each grade participates in Performing Arts for a very special performance for the community. Incorporating dance and movement, each grade learns a set of songs appropriate to their classrooms. For instance, our Preppy K students learned Sign Language to the ABC Song, and the Kindergarten Students learned about the fifty United States with "Nifty Fifty." Our Second Graders sing and danced songs from the South Pacific in native languages, and our Third Graders sing all about Huntington Beach. This program is funded by the PTA and parent donations.
Pre-School ~ On campus fee-based Preschool available for 3 and 4 year old's. This program prepares young students for the school environment and teaches them basic skills while emphasizing that learning is fun. In the 2008-2009 school year the Huntington Beach Education Foundation awarded teacher Michelle Grogan with their Teacher of the Year Award!
Preppy K Program ~ The perfect preparation for Kindergarten, Preppy K classes follow standard methods to prepare each child for Kindergarten and surpass themselves for ways to find fun in school. Please call our office for details as enrollment in these classes fills up fast.
All Day Kindergarten ~ A few extra hours make all the difference for our Kindergarten students that begin Basic Algebra solutions by grade 2. Plus our World Class teachers at Perry make sure that each student succeeds in this crucial first full year of school.
We also feature Field Trips, Fun Events, and Assemblies throughout the year that involve the community, promote families, and student learning.
