Perry School is a large campus with a small school feel that unifies Parents, Teachers, and Students to share, develop, and grow as life long learners. Perry promotes individuality, diversity, the formation of discipline, responsibility, courage, commitment, and fun. Students maintain high academic achievement and moral standards, and become critical thinkers and problem solvers enabling them to be confident productive citizens.
Perry has many programs that are key to student development such as: Art Masters Program ~ Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, and Winslow Homer are some of the artists students will study this year. Students learn concepts such as spatial placement, mood, perspective, and use of color to prepare their "masterpiece" through this beneficial program sponsored by the PTA. Art Masters is the perfect program to teach creative thinking to our students that must grow up to become innovators in our world. Computer Lab ~ Each student is able to learn basic computer skills and work with our Award Winning jiji Math Program from Mind Institute. Many studies indicate that a computer Math program combined with in class and home math work can dramatically increase students performance and understanding. Thank you to GATE instructor Mrs. Jen Yamabe for securing our jiji Math program with a grant that will last until 2012! Music Program ~ Each grade level is able to participate in our Music Program taught each week by Mrs. Meredith Hubbard and will perform for the community in late spring. Hints for the program are on the way soon! Preschool ~ On campus fee-based Preschool available for 3 and 4 year old's. This program prepares young students for the school environment and teaches them basic skills while emphasizing that learning is fun. In the 2008-2009 school year the Huntington Beach Education Foundation awarded teacher Michelle Grogan with their Teacher of the Year Award! Preppy K Program ~ The perfect preparation for Kindergarten, Perry classes follow standard methods to prepare each child for Kindergarten and surpass themselves for ways to find fun in school. A new class just began February 1, 2010 for students ready for Kindergarten next year. Please call our office for details as enrollment in these classes fills up fast. All Day Kindergarten ~ A few extra hours make all the difference for our Kindergarten students that begin Basic Algebra solutions by grade 2. Plus our World Class teachers at Perry make sure that each student succeeds in this crucial first full year of school. We also feature Field Trips, Fun Events, and Assemblies throughout the year that involve the community, promote families, and student learning.
What is Perry like?As you can see from the November newsletter article from Principal Ms. Van Perry is a very special school. If you are considering Perry for your child in the fall stop by our office, meet a few nice people, and join our fun community! Ms. Van's Message for Perry
In the spirit of ‘Thankfulness’ during November, I started thinking about our Perry school. There were many things that made me smile and many that made me feel great pride about our school. First, without a doubt, we have the best students. They are polite, appreciative, they try their very best and they have great personalities! I cannot tell you how many times I wander out of the office, on a mission of some sort, and I run into your children. We usually end up chatting for a while about anything from school, to family to their new shoes, lady bug rules, homework or a million other topics that make me appreciate them even more—and smile. We have great students! Next, I am so thankful for our amazing teaching staff. They are the most dedicated educators I have ever worked with during my career. They really care about the children, will not settle for anything but the best for their students, they are persistent, will not give up or make excuses and they truly care for each and every child in their classroom. As I have had the luxury of working at different schools throughout my career, I feel very confident about this claim. Our support staff makes sure our school day runs smoothly so we can teach!! We have the cleanest school for our students. Thank you, Jerry! We have staff that feed our students, help them in the classroom, and a dedicated group who watch them at lunch. We also have a friendly, professional and dedicated office staff. And where would we be without you, our super parents! You help in the classroom, and you give of your time and energy at home to help with homework. Our PTA is amazing! Your PTA president, Nicole Barnes, is at school everyday making sure our Perry students are getting the best education. I am thankful for our music, art, field trips, assemblies, classroom technology, a new Perry website coming our way, supplies, Fall Festival, Jog-a-Thon and the list goes on. I cannot imagine Perry life without this great team of parents! Now you know why we all can be very proud of our school. Ms. Van, Your very proud Perry Principal
